Huge artists who haven't made it to Number 1 in the UK

We still can't believe Taylor Swift hasn't quite made it to Number 1 in the UK so we thought we'd put together some other artists who've had huge hits that just never quite managed to peak at the top of the charts...

Taylor Swift

The 'Bad Blood' singer has had her albums reach the top spot but sadly never her singles. She has hit Number 2 though with 'Love Story', 'I Knew You Were Trouble' and 'Shake It Off'.

Alicia Keys

Alicia Keys is a 15-time Grammy Award winning singer, songwriter and producer but she has never made it to the top of the Official UK Chart. She has come close though, 'Empire State Of Mind' with Jay Z reached Number 2 and 'Fallin' hit reached Number 3 and stayed on the charts for ten weeks.

Selena Gomez

Selena has been quite busy lately working as an Executive Producer on Netflix's hit series 13 Reasons Why, but still found time to make music with Kygo for track 'It Ain't Me'. However despite having a huge following, the second largest on Instagram, she's never quite managed to top the Official Charts.

The Killers

'Mr Brightside is played at some point during every office party yet the song incredibly never made it to Number 1, in fact it only reached Number 10. 'When You Were Young' is the band's highest charting single that reached Number 2 back in 2006.

Amy Winehouse

Amy's sadly died of alcohol intoxication aged 27 but in her short life she managed to achieve three UK Number 1 albums which collectively spent 82 weeks in the top ten. However her singles never managed the same success. 'Back To Black' peaked at Number 8 and her highest charting single was 'Valerie' with Mark Ronson which reached Number 2.

Avril Lavigne

The Canadian singer has had seven UK Top Ten hits but never quite managed to hit the top spot. The closest she came was back in 2007 with the extremely catchy Number 2 hit 'Girlfriend'. Apologies that you'll have this in your head all day now...

Bastille

Bastille have managed two Number 1 albums with 'Bad Blood' and 'Wild World' but the highest charting position they've achieve is Number 2. 'Pompeii' and 'Of The Night' both came close to hitting Number 1 but narrowly missed out. However it's not bad as 'Pompeii' has had an absolutely astonishing 409 million views on YouTube.

Anastacia

Anastacia has had 12 Top 40 hits but 'Left Outside Alone' only charted at Number 3.
