Gary Barlow doubts Robbie Williams will join The X Factor

He previously snubbed American Idol

Gary Barlow has revealed that Robbie Williams snubbed a chance to judge on talent show giant American Idol.

Take That star Gary dropped by the Big John at Breakfast on Hallam FM where he spoke about the press rumours claiming that Robbie is set to replace Louis Walsh on The X Factor.

Despite thinking that Robbie would make a great judge, former X Factor judge Gary reckons that his former Take That band mate wouldn’t have the patience to step into the role.

Gary told Big John: "Do you know what, I think he would make a good judge; I just can't imagine him doing it.

"Having done the show and knowing the amount of time that goes into it, I just can't imagine Rob. He's not as patient as me and you have to be very patient when you're doing telly. So no I can't imagine him doing it.

"I've actually talked to him, years ago, because he was offered Pop Idol (American Idol) once and he said, 'It's too much time'. I don't think it'll happen. I mean, listen, I could be wrong but…"

When asked whether he would re-join The X Factor after quitting in 2013, Gary ruled it out saying: "I think it's too soon to go back. I enjoyed it but it's too soon... we're busy, we're flat out at the moment."

Take That’s tour continues at London O2 Arena tomorrow night before taking in shows in Manchester, Birmingham, Sheffield and Newcastle.
