Adele will perform her James Bond song ‘Skyfall’ at The Oscars ceremony in Los Angeles next month.

Nominated for Best Original Song at the 85th Academy Awards, Adele will be hoping to replicate her success of the Golden Globes earlier this month where she triumphed in the exact same category.

Certain to be a show stealer, Adele’s ‘Skyfall’ performance at The Oscars will be the first time she has ever sung the song publicly.

Adele commented: “It’s an honour to be nominated and terrifyingly wonderful to be singing in front of people who have captured my imagination over and over again. It’s something I’ve never experienced and probably only ever will once!”

The news was confirmed today via a series of tweets on The Oscars’ official Twitter page.

A spokesperson wrote: "Best 4 Words Ever: Adele Performing At #Oscars." They added: "We're so excited to have Adele perform Skyfall on this year’s #Oscars".

This year’s Oscars will pay special tribute to the James Bond movie franchise on its 50th anniversary with former actors set to grace the stage together.

Skyfall the movie is nominated in five different categories – Best Original Score, Best Original Song, Best Sound Editing, Best Sound Mixing and Best Cinematography.

Dame Judi Dench, who plays spy chief M, told the BBC it was a “great pity” that Skyfall hadn’t been nominated in the best film, director or acting categories.

Hosted by Seth MacFarlane, The Oscars takes place at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles on 24th February.
