The new film is out in the summer
Last updated 23rd Jun 2022
Back in March, Taylor Swift started to tease a brand new song called 'Carolina'. The song, written by Taylor, will feature on a new film called Where The Crawdads Sing.
Now, the singer has confirmed the song will be released on 24th June! Taylor took to her Instagram Stories to share details, with a link to pre-save.
The song, called 'Carolina' can be heard in the trailer which was shared by Taylor a few months ago. It has a haunting sound and accompanies the story of the young girl Kya who is abandoned by her parents, and later becomes a murder suspect.
At the time Taylor took to Instagram to tease her song, along with a trailer for the film saying: 'Where The Crawdads Sing is a book I got absolutely lost in when I read it years ago. As soon as I heard there was a film in the works starring the incredible @daisyedgarjones and produced by the brilliant @reesewitherspoon, I knew I wanted to be a part of it from the musical side.'
She continued: 'I wrote the song “Carolina” alone and asked my friend @aarondessner to produce it. I wanted to create something haunting and ethereal to match this mesmerizing story. You’ll hear it fully soon, but for now check out the @crawdadsmovie trailer for a clip!' (sic)
The film is based on the New York Times best-seller of the same name, and will star Daisy Edgar-Jones as Kya Clarke, and is produced by Reese Witherspoon.
Of course this wouldn't be the first time that Taylor has provided music for a film's soundtrack. The singer has provided music for The Hunger Games, Fifty Shades Darker and her own short film, All Too Well, starring Stranger Things' Sadie Sink.
This will be Taylor Swift's first song since her collab with long-time friend Ed Sheeran. Taylor and Ed dropped 'The Joker And The Queen' in February along with the music video which reunited young Ed and Taylor nine years after they first appeared together on Taylor's song 'Everything Has Changed'.
