Monopoly will be losing another original token later this year

Last month Monopoly fans voted for the pieces they wanted to keep in the game.
This meant that sadly and inevitably it was time to say goodbye to one of the original tokens - the thimble.
Speaking about the decision Craig Wilkins, marketing director for Hasbro UK & Ireland said, "The thimble is one of the most iconic tokens from Monopoly so we’re sad to see it go but the Monopoly community has spoken."
Fans were given the chance to vote from a choice of more than 60 possible tokens, including the current ones and new suggestions such as a penguin, rubber duck and bunny slipper!
While the final result of the month-long vote will be revealed on World Monopoly Day (19th March) Hasbro announced we will definitely be saying goodbye to the thimble from the middle of this year.
Standing the test of time, until now, the thimble dates back to 1935 and was one of the original Monopoly pieces.
Along with the thimble, the race car, boot, top hat and battleship were created for the game's launch with the Scottie dog and wheelbarrow added in the 50s.

This is the second time in recent years that an original token has been removed from the game, the last one being the iron which was replaced by a cat in 2013.
