Unbelievably flying from Sheffield to Essex via Berlin is cheaper than a train ticket

He even managed to have a whistle-stop tour of Berlin.

Jordan Cox, a blogger from Essex has proved that sometimes it can be worth going that extra mile - or over a thousand extra miles to be exact.

Britain's 'Coupon Kid' has managed to save money by getting two flights via Berlin, compared to one train from Sheffield to Shenfield, Essex.

Travelling for work Jordan managed to buy a cheap train ticket to Sheffield, but travelling back was a different matter. The cheapest train ticket he could get was £47 so the Money Saving Expert, Coupon & Deals Blogger decided to look at what other options were out there.

After a bit of research he found he could save money by flying from East Midlands Airport to Berlin and have a few hours in the German capital before returning to Stansted Airport, near his home in Essex.

He admits "this is a rather extreme way of saving money," but he even managed to squeeze in a whistle-stop tour of Berlin including a free tour of a government building and still save money. Unbelievable!

Watch the video below where Jordan takes you through exactly how he went about it.
