Steven Gerrard criticised for sharing picture of his daughter on first day of school
Steven recived abuse on social media
Former England and Liverpool footballer Steven Gerrard has received harsh criticism and vile messages on social media after posting a photo of his youngest daughter in her school uniform.
Proud dad Steven shared the shot on Instagram of his five-year-old daughter Lourdes all ready for her first day at primary school. He wrote alongside the cute picture ‘So proud of my little princess. First day at big school’.
Although most users were full of praise for the dad-of-three, some online trolls were quick to leave harsh messages on the snap.
One user criticised the footballer for sharing the snap, he wrote ‘Is this not something you keep to yourself as a personal memory? Some creeps pop up on Instagram, you need to remove this’.
Other users wrote vile and offensive messages towards Lourdes with Steven’s fans quick to jump to his defence.
A user called @littleman_jockey defended Steven, writing ‘Steven just ignore the trolls mate, she’s so cute you are a true legend mate’. Whilst another called @garyholts added ‘Ignore the jealous trolls Stevie, true legend and super proud pops!’.
The footballer shares Lourdes with his wife Alex Gerrard, the couple have two other children, 10-year-old Lexie and 12-year-old Lilly-Ella.
Steven isn’t the first to be the victim of harsh messages. Just last week Wayne and Coleen Rooney’s children were trolled after Wayne shared an image of six-year-old Kai and three-year-old Klay.
The Manchester United star shared the cute picture with the caption ‘Proud dad this morning, back at school for my boys’.
After sharing the shot, one user called the boys ‘little Shreks’ with others even branding them ‘ugly’.
England and ex-Liverpool player Raheem Sterling was also the victim of abuse when he posted a snap of his daughter.
