LISTEN: Sam Smith reveals why he doesn't have Snapchat
He released his new single last week
Last week Sam Smith returned to the charts with his brand new song 'Too Good at Goodbyes' which went straight in at the top spot of the Vodafone Big Top 40.
'Too Good at Goodbyes' is the singer's first song in two years having taken a break after releasing 'Writing's on the Wall', which was featured on the soundtrack to the 2015 James Bond film Spectre.
Sam Smith spoke to our Entertainment Team recently revealing who he would like to do the next Bond theme.
Speaking to our sister station Key 103, Sam explained why he hadn't released any music for a while, "I wanted to take a break after the Oscars as it all got a little too much and then just naturally come back and make it about the music," he said.
The 25-year-old described himself as "so old skool" saying he still listens to music on vinyl revealing that "old soul records" have inspired all the tracks he's been working on.
Unlike many artists these days, when it comes to technology Sam describes himself as being "stuck in the past", revealing he'd be happy with a simple phone which just makes calls and sends texts. He even revealed he doesn't have Snapchat because he doesn't want the distraction.
Sam has been teasing new music for a while now with numerous photos of him in the studio, but it wasn't until last week that he revealed the release date and name of his new song.
A few days after revealing the release date he also revealed the name of his comeback single would be 'Too Good at Goodbyes'.
While the 'Stay With Me' singer would not tell us exactly when his new album will be released, he did confirm it would be before the end of this year and he's "so excited" for its release.
While most of the conversation revolved around his music they also asked the singer about his cat.
Henry the cat has been popular with fans, even getting his own Twitter account and a present off TV host Ellen DeGeneres, but sadly Sam said he got too much so he gave him away to his step-sister.
"He got really attached to my roommate and he hated me! He used to get really vicious with anyone else, he was just an awful cat," he laughed. Poor Henry!
Tay FM also caught up with Sam Smith when he spoke to Boogie from the Saturday morning show. Sam had loads to talk about including the new single, losing weight, winning an Oscar and, of course, that upcoming album that everyone's been talking about.
Hear what happened when Boogie had a proper catch up with Sam Smith.
