Safety standards will be toughened after Claudia Winkleman's daughter suffers severe burns

Chancellor George Osborne has promised tougher safety standards for children's costumes.
It's after TV host Claudia Winkleman's daughter suffered severe burns when her Halloween costume caught fire last year.
She's been raising publicity about it and calling for thorough safety checks as it's claimed Halloween costumes are classed as 'toys' which affects how they're tested.
Speaking about the incident she recalled "It feels like she was on fire for hours, but the surgeon said it was probably just seconds.”
“She went up is the only way I know how to describe it – it was a spark and she screamed out for me."
"It was like those horrific birthday candles that you blow out and they come back. It wasn't fire like I'd seen."
When asked about the issue George Osborne reportedly said "“It is true we don’t have the same flame retardant regulations for fancy dress costumes for children.
“That seems wrong, I know the Business Secretary is looking at it and we will make sure it changes.”
Claudia will stand in for Bruce Forsyth on the Strictly Come Dancing Christmas special.
