Rihanna to debut new album on Jay Z’s streaming service Tidal tonight?!
Rumours are surfacing online
Rumours have exploded online claiming that Barbadian superstar Rihanna is set to debut her new album on Jay-Z’s streaming service, Tidal.
As we reported earlier today, artists including RiRi, Kanye West, Madonna and Beyonce all voiced their support for Tidal on Twitter yesterday and changed their profile pictures to the company’s turquoise blue colour.
Tidal’s website has been counting down to 10pm BST today, at which time it is expected that Jay Z will announce his plans for the streaming service.
Now, speculation has started to surface claiming that Rihanna’s eagerly-awaited eighth studio album will get its global premiere on Tidal.
The rumours seem to have a certain gravitas considering Jay-Z was instrumental in signing a teenage to Rihanna way back in 2004 before he snapped her up to his own Roc Nation imprint five years later.
They’ve also made musical alchemy together on the tracks ‘Run This Town’ and ‘Talk That Talk’ and continue to be close friends and associates.
We’ll wait with baited breath for the 10pm announcement! Exciting times!
Tidal was originally launched in October 2014 by Norwegian company Aspiro, before it was bought by Project Panther Bidco, a firm acquired by Jay Z earlier this month.
The streaming site’s key selling point so far has been its ‘lossless’ CD quality streams, which the company will charge £19.99 a month for – double the price of its rivals.
In a recent press release, the company described Tidal as “a single destination for artists and fans to share ideas, exclusive content, songs, videos, studio sessions, rough tracks, personal conversations and more”.
Tidal will compete with other streaming services such as Spotify, Deezer, and other streaming services including Apple’s rumoured Beats Music Project.
