Hilarious animated comedy The Lego Movie has been unveiled as the highest grossing movie of 2014 in the UK and Ireland.
Released in the UK last February, the film amassed £34.4million at the box office to take the top spot.
The third and final Hobbit movie, The Battle of the Five Armies, was the second most popular making an impressive £33.5million in the final 19 days of 2014 alone.
The Inbetweeners 2 is in third spot with a box office revenue £33.3million making it the most popular British film of the year on home soil.
It was the fifth consecutive year that overall takings exceeded £1.1billion, however despite these successes the takings were down 2.9% on 2013 when Despicable Me 2 was the biggest movie with takings of £47.4million.
With huge blockbusters such has James Bond: Spectre, Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Avengers: Age of Ultron all being released it’s expected that takings will be up in 2015.
