Katy Perry drops track 'Rise' out of nowhere
Katy has just released her new track
So you’ve been dragged back into THAT beef with your arch nemesis by their ex-boyfriend so what do you do?!
Well if you are Katy Perry you drop some brand new music OUT OF NOWHERE.
Katy surprised fans when she dropped new track ‘Rise’ over night. She describes the song as a ‘powerful message of hope, an anthem of conviction, perseverance and transformation.’
Talking about the track, Katy said: “This is a song that’s been brewing inside me for years, that has finally come to the surface. I was inspired to finish it now, rather than save it for my next album, because now more than ever, there is a need for our world to unite. I know that together we can rise above the fear - in our country, and around the world. I can’t think of a better example than the Olympic athletes, as they gather in Rio with their strength and fearlessness, to remind us how we ALL can come together, with the resolve to be the best we can be. I hope this song can inspire us to heal, unite, and rise together.”
It be easy to think that Katy has been inspired by her feud with Taylor, with the track opening ‘I won’t just survive, Oh, you will see me thrive. Can’t write my story. I’m beyond the archetype. I won’t just conform. No matter how you shake my core.’
Later lyrics seem to be directed at Taylor too: ‘This no mistake, no accident. When you think the final is in. Think again, don’t be surprised, I will still rise.’
At the moment the track is only available on iTunes, it’s the first music from Katy since her 2013 album Prism.
