Katie Price sparks debate after allowing her children to use Instagram
Princess and Junior have joined social media
2016, the year where toddlers know how to operate mobiles and tablets and the younger generation are more likely to be able to tell you the symbol for an emoji rather than identifying the elements in the periodic table.
It’s been a pressing subject amongst parents for many years and now Katie Price has reignited the debate of how young is too young as she chose to allow her children Princess, nine and Junior, 11 to join Instagram.
For those of you who don’t know, Instagram is one of the most popular social media sites which has 300 million daily active users. It allows people to share photos and videos with their followers, as well as being able to post out externally to other sites including Facebook and Twitter.
Last night Katie divided opinion amongst parents when she posted two screenshots of her children’s account to her own page.
On Junior's profile she wrote 'My baby boy has asked me for 3 years for Instagram so I’ve allowed it but I’m keeping my eye and have passwords'.
Underneath nine-year-old Princess' account she wrote 'Now my beautiful Princess has driven me mad for Instagram but I said I’ll be vetting it lol'.
Despite telling fans she will be monitoring and 'vetting' their profiles, Katie received abuse not long after sharing the news.
One user wrote 'No this is wrong. Does he know those 2000+ people. Dangerous game you're playing with your kid’s lives'. Another said 'As if she doesn’t have enough money. She should be protecting her kids #selfishcow'.
The negative comments didn't end there. Another user wrote 'The account is public @officialkatieprice that gives every weirdo and troll the opportunity to put what they want? Do you really want your children to see such comments etc. Please at least put them private'.

Some followers were more supportive of the Loose Women panellist and voiced their opinion on the matter. One wrote 'It's Katie's choice! She's vetting their accounts' whilst another said 'I don’t agree with kids on any social media but you do have to give in some point in this society. As long as she monitors regularly. After all they are working kids now and it’s probably for these purposes'.
Junior and Princess are no stranger to the public eye, Katie made the choice to not keep them out of the spotlight when she involved them in various TV shows. The pair have grew up on camera on the likes of shows including Katie and Peter: The Next Chapter and most recently Katie's new show, Katie Price's Pony Club.
They also appeared on a special edition of Loose Women and stole the show with their confidence. 11-year-old Junior embarrassed his mum when he revealed some of her secrets, and even asked her about her past relationships.
