JK Rowling announces Harry Potter and the Cursed Child!
It's coming to London in summer 2016
Exciting news to kick-start your Friday morning, JK Rowling has announced details of a new stage play called Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.
Breaking the news to her 4.81million Twitter followers on the 18th anniversary of her first book Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, JK says the play tells the “untold part” of Harry’s story including the murder of his parents.
JK insisted it isn’t a prequel and confirmed that the Cursed Child won’t be released as a book.
She wrote: "To answer one inevitable (and reasonable!) question - why isn't Cursed Child a new novel? I am confident that when audiences see the play they will agree that it was the only proper medium for the story."
A collaboration between JK, writer Jack Thorne and director John Tiffany, the play will run at The Palace Theatre in London in the summer of 2016. Tickets will go on sale from this autumn.
