Jeremy Clarkson to present 'Have I Got News For You'

He will film his episode on the quiz show this month

Axed Top Gear host Jeremy Clarkson will return to the BBC to present quiz show 'Have I Got News For You', despite his contract not being renewed.

The presenter was the focus of an internal investigation at the BBC after he reportedly attacked Top Gear presenter Oisin Tymon.

Clarkson was initially suspended after reporting the incident to the BBC, before the corporation decided that his contract would not be renewed.

However the 54-year-old will film his episode of 'Have I Got News For You' this month.

A BBC spokeswoman said: “Jeremy's contract has not been renewed on Top Gear but he isn't banned from appearing on the BBC.”

Jimmy Mulville from production company Hat Trick, which creates the quiz show, told the Broadcasting Press Guild last month that he thought Clarkson was a “fantastic broadcaster”.

He joked: “Maybe we will get the producer on so he can hit Jeremy Clarkson live on television.”

Meanwhile, Clarkson’s future still remains unclear although it was announced yesterday that North Yorkshire Police would not be continuing any action regarding the incident with Oisin Tymon.

It also emerged that Clarkson will appear on stage again with his former Top Gear colleagues Richard Hammond and James May, to present a series of live shows planned by the BBC before his contract was not renewed.

However the shows will be stripped of all BBC branding and will be called ‘Clarkson, Hammond and May Live’.

This move has sparked rumours that the trio may continue their careers together – as Hammond and May’s contracts are set to run out with the BBC.
