Eminem celebrates 10 years sober with inspirational photo

Rap star Eminem has celebrated a decade sober with an inspirational photo posted on social media. The 45-year-old rapper, known for his hits 'My Name Is' and more recently his collaboration with Ed Sheeran, 'River', had previously struggled with various addictions including drink and drugs.
Taking to social media Eminem posted a photo of his 10-year medallion that he had received for keeping away off the drink and drugs for a decade. He captioned his photo 'Celebrated my 10 years yesterday' and the photo has been liked by over 1 million fans on Instagram.
He has received a number of encouraging messages from his fans who said, 'Yessss 💜🙌🏼 such an amazing accomplishment', 'Amazing 👍🏼👍🏼 well done xx' and 'Respect'. sic
Another fan left a longer comment saying, 'So proud and happy for you Eminem! 🌟💕😙✨Much love,peace and respect to you!! You truly do inspire me💕'. sic
Eminem has previously revealed how he was near to death back in 2007 after he took an accidental overdose. He told the New York Times in 2011, “I used to get pills wherever I could, I was just taking anything that anybody was giving to me.”
He later credited his three children with keeping him sober.
Three years ago he also revealed that he replaced his addiction with exercise, telling Men's Journal, "When I got out of rehab, I needed to lose weight, but I also needed to figure out a way to function sober.
"Unless I was blitzed out of my mind, I had trouble sleeping. So I started running. It gave me a natural endorphin high, but it also helped me sleep, so it was perfect.”

As well as celebrating 10 years sober, Eminem also performed at Coachella music festival over two weekends. The rapper took to the stage yesterday evening (22nd April) and delighted fans with a set full his old classics.
