So kind!
Last updated 7th Mar 2018
As well as being one of the biggest pop stars in the world, 'Shape Of You' singer Ed Sheeran has seriously shown his kind heart this week. Not only has he bought pizza for his fans waiting outside for his gig, he donated a guitar to a terminally ill 11-year-old girl and now he's sent a lovely video message to a terminally ill mum.
Taking time out of his busy tour schedule over in Australia, Ed recorded a video of himself to send to Kelly Dimmock, a 39-year-old mum who was diagnosed with stage four terminal gallbladder cancer last month.
Ed first found out about Kelly's illness when she recorded an adorable video of her son Chance singing along to some of Ed Sheeran's biggest hits.
After seeing Kelly's videos on YouTube, Ed responded and said, "Hey Kelly, Ed here. I’m in Perth at the moment. I just heard your story, and I’m just sending you a message to say I’m wishing you lots of love, and I hope this makes you smile."
Very kind!
Kelly and her husband Dave, who is a Sergeant Major in the Army, tragically lost their little boy at the age of just 9 days old, 15 years ago.
As the couple decided to get married just a month after losing their son, they were forced to marry on a very small budget. As Kelly doesn't know how long she has left to live, a Just Giving page has been set up by Kelly's sister, asking for donations to help the couple renew their wedding wows.
It reads, 'Kelly is 39 years old and has 2 young children aged 4 and 10, she lost her little boy at just 9 days old. Kelly and Dave decided to get married quickly (15 years ago), just a month after they lost their baby - it was on a very small budget and not the dream wedding she'd hoped for.'
'After seeing numerous doctors over the last year to explain her symptoms she was brushed aside with it being 'anxiety' unfortunately, after months of trying she finally had an MRI scan and blood tests on January 15th 2018 to find she had stage 3 ovarian cancer. A few weeks later she was told it was stage 4 gallbladder cancer that has now spread to skin, liver and lymph nodes. Kelly doesn't want to know how long she has left and just wants to make the most out of each day. Dave is a Sergeant Major in the Army. He was due to be promoted the day Kelly found out her Cancer had spread.'
The message then ends by asking for any kind donations, 'Please help us give them one last special day to remember and give her the day she deserves. We do not have a date yet, but we need to organise it within the next couple of months as we do not know how long Kelly has left. All offers of help will be put into a spreadsheet and sent to Kelly and Meghan so they can decide who she wants help from so please be patient.' sic
At the time of publication, Kelly and Dave's fund has already exceeded the target and currently sits at £4,397.
Earlier this week, despite being busy on tour, Ed also donated one of his signed guitars to a terminally ill 11-year-old girl, in an attempt to help her parents raise £50,000 needed for legal fees.
