Demi Lovato is reportedly still in hospital following a suspected drug overdose last Wednesday (25th July). According to US news site TMZ, Demi is staying under medical supervision as she's suffering from "nausea and high fever," but is "expected to make a full recovery.
Since she was found at her home in L.A. and taken to hospital last week, her ex-boyfriend Wilmer Valderrama has taken the time to visit her, rushing to her bedside just two days after the incident happened.
Now, Demi's backing dancer Dani Vitale has taken to Twitter to urge Demi's fans to continue to treat her with love and kindness after trolls have been taking to social media to attack the singer.
Dani posted the statement on Twitter and Instagram. It read, 'I care about Demi just like all of you do. I have not said anything about this situation until now because her recovery has been of the most importance.'
Confirming she was not with Demi at the time of the overdose, Dani wrote, 'I am with her now, and will continue to be because she means the world to me just as she does to all of you.
'Like all of you, I have nothing but love in my heart for her. There is no need for any negativity towards the ones who care about Demi at this time. There is too much of it in this world as it is. I know you're all feeling lost without her at this moment in time. Remember that you have always been a community of Lovatics who love.'
She then urged fans to "remember that" before writing anything offensive, adding, 'Remember that we all love her more than we can ever put into words. Please continue to send her love during her recovery.'
Fans praised Dani for speaking out, with one writing, 'We need more people like you in this world that spread hope, kindness, compassion, acceptance & ask others to do the same. You are a beautiful person.'
Another added, 'Let her know that we love her and we just want the best for her, we just want her to be as happy and healthy as possible, and that no matter what it takes, she’ll always have people who love her unconditionally.'
Following the news of Demi's suspected overdose, her representative released a statement which read, "Demi is awake and with her family who want to express thanks to everyone for the love, prayers, and support.
"Some of the information being reported is incorrect and they respectfully ask for privacy and not speculation as her health and recovery is the most important thing right now."
