Coronation Street star Catherine Tyldesley addresses ‘Mum Shaming'
She says, 'I didn’t think I’d feel guilty about getting my nails done once every two weeks.
Catherine Tyldesley is not only an actress, but she is a busy wife and mother to one-year-old Alfie.
In a recent blogpost posted on Hello! magazine's website the Coronation Street actress addresses the guilt she felt after giving birth to her son.
She says, 'I didn’t think I’d feel guilty about getting my nails done once every two weeks. Or nipping to be gym for an hour. Or going for dinner with a friend. Or indeed- working all day , but I do ..'
Going to to say that 'Mum Guilt' is worse than 'junk food guilt, Catholic Guilt or ‘stealing your mates clothes’ guilt.'
Catherine was trolled on social media during her pregnancy for going to the gym, then criticised after giving birth for being 'chubby', or if she went to the gym for not spending time with her family.
'The saying “a happy mother = a happy home” couldn’t be more true.' The 32-year-old actress explained, 'Yes I’m a mum. Does this mean I no longer care about my own health and fitness levels?'
Catherine went on to say how she felt guilty at needing some 'me' time but has now fought back at the trolls saying, 'Bless your bad karma. May you find happiness some day. I found mine – in being the best mum, wife and actor I can be each day. I’m happy with that.'
Catherine, who plays Eva Price in the award winning soap opera recently married Tom Pitfield and the couple have been on their honeymoon in Dubai.
