Coronation Street actor Sam Aston has revealed he is officially engaged after proposing to his girlfriend Briony Gardner over the weekend.
Sam, who plays cobbles favourite Chesney Brown, delighted fans with the news on his social media accounts and he didn't hold back with the grand gesture!
Sam popped the question to Briony, who he's been dating for five years, on stage in front of a live audience of 250 people.
The 23-year-old took to Instagram to share a shot of the special moment. Alongside the picture of him down on one knee, Sam wrote, 'Me and my beautiful bride to be...'.
Sharing the same photo, Briony wrote, 'After sharing over 5 years together, 4 Al, Andy and Sam golf days and 3 doggies, 2 hearts have now become 1 as Sam and I are…ENGAGED!! (How is it possible I can even say that out loud?!).
'Sam got down on one knee last night at his annual golf do and proposed in front of 250 people and my heart could burst with happiness!! (When did I get so lucky?!)
'I can’t wait to marry my whole world but until then, I’m just floating in this bliss called love. I love you @samaston93.' sic

According to reports the pair met eight years ago when they both attended a theatre workshop. After becoming such good friends, in 2012 they decided to turn their relationship into romance and have been inseparable ever since.
Fans of Coronation Street have watched Sam grow up as his character Chesney Brown in the soap.
Chesney first arrived in 2003 as Fiz Brown's brother (Jennie McAlpine) and quickly became a fan favourite.
During his 14 years on the soap, Sam's character Chesney has had a number of high profile storylines including his most recent split with Sinead Tinker (Katie McGlynn).
Since appearing on Coronation Street, Sam has picked up a number of awards including 'Best Dramatic Performance' and 'Best Newcomer'.
