I'm a Celebrity stars warned about blood-sucking leeches
The female contestants are at particular risk.
As if being on I'm a Celebrity wasn't enough to deal with, the stars have now been warned about blood-sucking leeches.
Armed with leech repellent the celebs have been told to regularly check all over their body as well as their underwear and socks as the little blood-suckers like warm places.
According to reports the leeches have already been found in the a crew member's belly button, with show medic Dr Bob McCarron explaining that women are at particular risk,
"They are attracted to the time of the month and they’re attracted to heat. If it’s the time of the month they will seek out the nearest blood supply," he said.
"What they like to do on the celebrities is crawl into their socks and they do not even know it," he continued, "If they walk in the rain they need to check themselves. In the first aid kit they have their own vinegar spray. Once you spray it they die."
The leeches like to latch on and suck blood and can cause infections if they aren't removed properly.
What a week it's been for the contestants after deadly spiders and a snake have also been spotted in the camp.
Tonight's episode of I'm a Celebrity with feature actor Adam Thomas undertaking the latest Bushtucker Trial - Food Factory, where leeches are the least of his worries as he searches for stars in a trough of 'Toxic Vegetables'.
