Alesha Dixon has joined a brand new campaign to help educate, inspire and build confidence in young women.
According to the most recent research by Always, 64% of young women aged 16-24 lost confidence during puberty, with 94% succumbing to the fear of failing during this time. This new campaign is hoping to change the way young women perceive setbacks and encourage them to embrace failure as part of learning and growth.
During the campaign Alesha, along with YouTube star, Hannah Witton and not-for-profit partner founder, Jane Kenyon from Girls Out Loud, will be sharing their own stories about persevering through failure, hoping to inspire others.
Alesha Dixon rose to fame in 1999 as part of girl group Mis-Teeq. After the group disbanded in 2005 she had a number of solo singles including 'The Boy Does Nothing' and 'Breathe Slow'. She then went on to become a judge on Strictly Come Dancing and later Britain's Got Talent.
However speaking about her involvement with #LikeAGirl Alesha said,
"I have faced many challenges in my life and at times it has been difficult to dust myself off, move on and try again. I have learnt so much about myself through these challenging times and I am a stronger person for them.
"It is important for young girls to understand that failure is OK, and that perseverance through it is how you grow.”
This was echoed by Jane Kenyon, founder of Girls Out Loud who commented, "Learning from failure is a fundamental life skill and we need to empower girls to embrace failure in order for them to be bold, be brave and be confident."
Alesha and Jane are joined by British YouTube star Hannah Witton who has a channel covering everything from sex and relationships to travel and books.
