Marina & Candy

Marina is grandmother and carer to Candy, a bright and fun-loving 8 year old.

Like many families in the area, and through no fault of their own, Marina and Candy cannot afford what many of us would call basic essentials. As many as three children in every classroom throughout Tayside & North East Fife live in poverty and finding the money to feed, heat and clothe a family is challenging.

At Christmas time 2013, like hundreds of other families, Marina could not afford to ensure Candy had the Christmas she deserved. With the help of our listeners and supporters, Tay FM’s Cash for Kids Mission Christmas was able to help. Outings are something else that are almost impossible to afford and Cash for Kids is aware that there are many children in the area who never visit the cinema, circus or take part in leisure activities. Working in partnership with SWE Wrestling and Starrs Circus, tickets for performances are made available to Cash for Kids for these children and Candy and her gran have enjoyed some fun free time as a result.

Marina says;

“I can’t thank Cash for Kids enough. Candy is a happy girl and doesn’t expect much, but to see her face at Christmas and on the outings we’ve had, it’s great to be able to do something special for her.”
