Two people dead after Dundee fire
Police confirm deaths following early morning blaze in Park Avenue
Two people have died in a flat fire in Dundee.
Emergency services, including five fire crews, were called to the scene in Park Avenue at about 7am on Thursday by a member of the public.
Firefighters entered the tenement to search the third-floor flat and removed two people who were treated by paramedics but later died.
Police and fire officers are now investigating the cause of the blaze.
The road was closed to the public until around 1pm when the cordon was lifted.
Our reporter Lizzie Parker was there.
A police spokesman said: Police can confirm that two people have sadly died as a result of the fire. No further details are available at this time and next of kin have not been made aware. Inquiries are continuing and a joint investigation with the Scottish Fire and Rescue service has been launched.
