Elderly driver killed in three-vehicle Angus crash

The 79-year-old man died at the scene of the collision on the A92 Arbroath to Montrose road, which also left a woman driver seriously injured.

An elderly motorist has died following a three-vehicle crash in Angus.

The 79-year-old man died at the scene of the collision on the A92 Arbroath to Montrose road, which also left a woman driver seriously injured.

Police have appealed for witnesses to the crash, which occurred near the Maryton junction at around noon.

The man who died was driving a red Volkswagen Golf and the 47-year-old woman was in a blue Mercedes Sprinter van.

A male passenger in the front of the van suffered minor injuries, along with the 50-year-old man at the wheel of the third vehicle involved, a Ford Ranger 4x4.

They were all taken to Ninewells Hospital.
