Woman killed in collision with car being chased by police
A woman has died after she was hit by a car being pursued by police in Edinburgh.
The 33-year-old, who is understood to have been a pedestrian, was struck by the car on Old Dalkeith Road on Thursday evening.
Police Scotland have appealed for witnesses of the incident that took place at around 8pm.
A spokesman said: "The silver Ford Ka that was involved in the collision was being followed by a police vehicle at the time, which had blue lights and siren activated, after it failed to stop when signalled to do so by officers."
The woman's identity has not been released and police said enquiries were ongoing into the circumstances of the crash.
