Scotrail's new class of electric train unveiled
A Class 385 will start test runs before the fleet starts to get rolled out on the Glasgow to Edinburgh line next year
The first of a fleet of 70 new £370 million electric trains which Scotrail says will revolutionise travel are being unveiled.
The Class 385 trains are being built by Hitachi in Japan and the first 24 are expected to come into service next autumn.
The Transport Minister Humza Yousaf and Scotrail Alliance's Managing Director Phil Verster will unveil the new train in Glasgow later.
The new fleet will include 46 three-car and 24 four-car AT200 units. The first trains will arrive in summer 2017 The Class 385 fleet will operate on the Edinburgh-Glasgow via Falkirk High line which is being electrified.
It will be tested in the coming months to make sure it is fit for service and to identify any probems.
