Police in Montrose are appealing for information after a man assaulted and attempted to rob a 23-year-old woman in the High Street yesterday evening.
Police in Montrose are appealing for information after a man assaulted and attempted to rob a 23-year-old woman in the High Street yesterday evening. The victim was using an automated teller cash machine at the time.
Although no items were stolen, the woman suffered slight injuries to her hip and leg as as a result of the incident. The man is described as being about five feet six inches tall, of slim build and was wearing a navy hooded top and jeans. In appealing for information, police advise the public to be alert to their surroundings when using ATMs and to remain cautious of carrying out transactions if there there are any concerns regarding persons nearby in the area. Do not allow people to look over your shoulder as you enter your PIN. After making a withdrawal, immediately put it in your wallet or purse before leaving the cash machine. If you have any concerns about any suspicious persons near an ATM, use an alternative one. Anyone who was in the area of High Street Montrose last night and saw or heard anything that may assist officers with their enquiries is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101.
