Perth Skier Back On The Slopes After Injury
Charlie Guest returned to the slopes less than two months after breaking her back
Less than two months after suffering a career threatening injury - a Perth skier is back on the slopes.
Charlie Guest broke four vertebrae after crashing into a rock while training in Sweden.
She's now tweeted pictures of her back in training at the Cairngorm snow sports centre.
“Yesterday was a great day for me.
"I’ve been closely following a recovery programme and we felt it was time to see what was possible and, with the recent snowfall, it gave me a good opportunity to really test myself.
"I’m a little stiff, but making good progress and very much being guided by my team at the Scottish Institute of Sport.”
The back protector, now part of her essential kit, was very much in place on yesterday’s training run. Charlie commented:
“The back protector is a must for me now.
"And it should be essential ski-wear for everyone.
"Without wearing a back protector my injuries could have spelled the end of my career.
"It should be compulsory wear for all ski-ers regardless of level and ability.”
