Our Own Paddy McGuinness Immortalised In Wax
Our own Paddy McGuinness is the latest celebrity to be immortalised in wax.
A lifelike model of the radio presenter, funny man and actor will be unveiled next month at Madame Tussauds in Blackpool. The Take Me Out and Coronation Street star recently attended a sitting to enable sculptors to capture his likeness.
The creation of a wax figure is a lengthy process and Paddy’s was no exception. To ensure the most accurate likeness of Paddy was captured, a dedicated team of sculptors took hundreds of precise measurements and photographs. In total it takes an experienced 20 strong team of sculptors, moulders, colourists and hair stylists four months to complete the figures, with each one costing £150,000. Paddy is famed for his popular catchphrases that have helped make ITV1’s primetime dating show Take Me Out must-see Saturday night TV. He shot to fame following roles alongside Peter Kay in Phoenix Nights and Max and Paddy’s Road to Nowhere and has since gone on to establish himself as a firm favourite amongst the British public. Paddy commented, “It’s been an absolute honour to have a wax figure created and I can tell you now, they didn’t miss one measurement. The whole process has been a lot of fun and I’ve enjoyed every second of it. I can’t wait to see the finished figure and see what the kids make of it.” Matthew Titherington, General Manager at Madame Tussauds Blackpool commented, “There was an incredibly high demand for Paddy’s figure to be commissioned, our visitors are always asking if there’s a wax figure of the star. He’s hilarious and a local hero so we’re expecting him to be one of our most popular figures at the attraction – we can’t wait to unveil the finished article.”
