A piper has lead pupils of Sidlaw View Primary into their new £8.1 million building.

The new primary school is part of a campus with Jessie Porter Nursery and will include the replacement for Baldragon Academy when it is complete.

Up to 400 pupils will be able to attend the new two-stream primary school, which also includes a dining and assembly hall, a production kitchen, a gym hall, offices, and drama and music provision.

Dundee City Council Children and Families Service convener Councillor Stewart Hunter will join head teacher Denise McCaffery and the school for the special event.

Councillor Hunter said: “This is a very special day for everyone connected with Sidlaw View Primary.

Continuing investment into our school estate is crucial for the years ahead. We are committed to closing the attainment gap and ensuring that even more of our young people are able to take advantage of new opportunities.

“The provision of a high quality learning and teaching environment for young people is an important part of these efforts.

“These buildings provide a new focus for the community and are a great source of pride for local people.

“Completion of the new Sidlaw View Primary is a milestone on an exciting journey that will also see Baldragon Academy replaced. Everyone connected with these schools is excited at the prospect of a stunning new campus that will help inspire our pupils for generations to come.”
