A 23-year-old man has been accused of leaving his mother scarred for life by biting off part of her finger.

Kieran Fletcher is alleged to have straddled his mother Tracy Fletcher and pinned her to a bed before leaving her severely injured and disfigured.

He is alleged to have attacked his mother on 28 April by seizing her body, struggling with her and forcing her onto a bed before straddling her.

Fletcher allegedly punched her repeatedly on the face and body, bit her on the hand, and bit off the tip of her finger to her severe injury, impairment and disfigurement.

A second charge alleges that he behaved in a threatening or abusive manner likely to cause fear or alarm, by shouting, swearing, refusing to desist and repeatedly threatening police officers with violence.

He is also alleged to have attacked PC Michael Greshon by spitting on his body and headbutting his shoulder. A fourth charge alleges he resisted PC Greshon and PC Claudia Hunter by repeatedly lashing out with his arms and legs.

Fletcher, from Perth, is also alleged to have attacked Stephen Patterson at the house in St Catherine's Road, Perth, by biting him on the arm to his injury. He is also alleged to have threatened to throw Mr Patterson off a balcony.

He claims he acted in self-defence in relation to the incident with his mother. He is due to go on trial later this year.
