Mackay pens new deal with St Johnstone
The skipper signs a 1 year extension
St Johnstone skipper Dave Mackay has signed a one-year contract extension.
Mackay has signed a deal that commits him to the Perth club until May 2017.
The 34-year-old signed for Saints in 2009 and was the first St Johnstone player to lift a major trophy, captaining them to victory in the 2014 Scottish Cup Final.
Manager Tommy Wright told the club's official website: I'm delighted that Dave has signed for next season.
He has consistently been one of the best players at the club and given his length of service I would argue that he is one the club's best ever players.
He's been a captain on and off the pitch. His form since coming back from his summer surgery has been excellent and we were pleased to sit down and get an extension agreed.''
