Helicopter search to find missing Perth teenager
15-year-old Kathleen Harkin was last seen on the banks of the River Tay, near to Woody Island, on Saturday night.
People in Perth are being urged to check sheds and outbuildings as police look for a 15-year-old girl last seen on the banks of the River Tay.
Kathleen Harkin went missing near an area known as Woody Island in North Muirton on Saturday, October 8.
A major search is underway - involving mountain rescue teams, the fire and rescue service and the police helicopter. On Sunday night the helicopter could be seen travelling up and down the river between the Friarton Bridge and the site she was last seen.
Area Commander for Perth and Kinross Chief Inspector Maggie Pettigrew said: "We are increasingly worried for the welfare of Kathleen and will continue to focus all our attention overnight on finding Kathleen. We are using specialist resources as it is a difficult and dangerous area to search.
"I would ask that residents in the North Muirton area please check any outbuildings or sheds they may have.
"We are aware of speculation on social media and want to stress that this is very much an ongoing missing person enquiry and any speculation is unhelpful and could cause added stress for Kathleen's family.
"We ask that anyone with information as to Kathleen's whereabouts please contact police on 101."
Kathleen is described as approximately 5ft in height, medium build, long dark hair, wearing black ripped jeans, a black bomber style jacket and black Nike trainers.
