Dundee United's Paul Paton named Ladbrokes player of the month for February
Dundee United midfielder Paul Paton has been named Ladbrokes Premiership player of the month for February.
The stand-in captain scoops the award after scoring in back to back victories against Hearts and Ross County.
Paton has recently returned from long-term injury just in time to try and help United in their bid to beat the drop.
The Terrors remain rooted to the bottom of the Scottish Premiership, eight points adrift from Kilmarnock with a game in hand.
Manager Mixu Paatelainen labelled him ‘an absolute man mountain’.
However, Paton was modest in his acceptance of the award, admitting it was nice to win but nicer for his club to pick up valuable points.
He said: “I won one last year but I didn’t expect it then and I certainly didn’t expect it now. It’s always nice (to win awards) but obviously the most important thing is that it was a good month for the club.
“We’ve got a lot of big games coming up, we’re still positive and confident and we’ll take that into our upcoming games.”
