A man has appeared in court charged with the murder of his ex-wife in a house fire in Stoke.

40-year-old Valentina Cozma died of smoke inhalation following the blaze at her home on Campbell Road last month.

Shortly after, police announced they were treating the incident as a murder investigation.

Georgian Constantin was arrested and appeared this afternoon at Stafford Crown Court (Friday March 17th) to enter a plea on the count of murder.

The 42-year-old's defence team requested a psychiatrist report in the interest that it would be, “Prudent to await the report to be sure of things.”

Constantin was further remanded in custody with an appearance on 28th July to answer the charges.
