Stoke man charged with child sex offences
He was found guilty of six counts.
A man has been convicted of several child sexual offences after we launched an investigation into him.
Kieran Huthwaite, 31, of Bentilee, Stoke-on-Trent, abused the survivors before they came forward and told us what happened.
He was reported to police and arrested in November 2021. He denied what happened.
Staffordshire Police started work to gather evidence which resulted in Huthwaite being charged and sent to court.
Following a trial at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court, the jury reached a verdict on Wednesday 31 January that Huthwaite was guilty of two counts of assault by penetration of a female under 13, one count of rape of a female under 16, one count of attempted rape of a female over 16, one count of sexual assault of a girl under 13 and one count sexual assault of a female over 16.
He has been remanded ahead of his sentencing at the same court on 8 April.
Detective Constable Tiffany Berry, who worked on the case, said: “This conviction would not have been possible if it wasn’t for the sheer bravery and determination of the survivors.
“They have shown tremendous courage throughout this period and have been integral in making sure Huthwaite answers to his crimes.
“Supporting victims and robustly targeting those responsible for sexual crimes in Staffordshire is a priority. I hope this encourages other survivors of sexual assaults that we are here to help and deliver justice.”
