Thousands of supporters filling the bet365 Stadium today will pay tribute to all the Stoke City fans and former players that sadly passed away in 2022.

The Club will celebrate the lives of those who are sadly no longer with us before the Championship fixture against Preston North End later.

"It's a very special moment. The away team get fully behind it." said Adrian Hurts, Head of Community at the club.

"We can all stand as part of this Stoke City family and say yeah, you were part of this group. I'd like to think we were the first club to do this."

The Potters will take the time to remember former player Eddie Raynor, left-back legend Tony Allen and former first team coach, Sammy Chung.

Fans were asked to pay respects to their City-supporting loved ones and friends by submitting their names to the Club over the last few weeks.

Those who are being remembered will appear on the big screens at the bet365 Stadium prior to kick-off, as well as featuring in that day's issue of the Official Matchday Programme and via the Club's social media platforms.

Adrian said: "Submissions come in from over the world and remembering our fellow Stoke City supporters, at the first home game of a new year, has now become a tradition that the Club is proud to host.

“The names and faces of those on the screen and in the programme are very precious to the friends and families in attendance and it is only right that we recognise their support."
