Stafford man charged with murder after death of man at County Hospital

The 82-year-old passed away almost a week after the incident

A man has been charged following the death of a man who was assaulted in Stafford.

Joseph David Phillips, 32, of Stafford, was charged with murder on Tuesday (18 January).

Police were called to reports of an assault shortly before 8pm on 17 February 2021 at the County Hospital. Sadly, the victim, Oliver Kemp, who was 82-years-old and from Stone, died in hospital on 23 February as a result of the injuries he sustained.

Phillips appeared before magistrates at the North Staffordshire Justice Centre yesterday on Tuesday.

He was remanded and is due to appear at Stafford Crown Court this afternoon (Thursday 20 January).
