A 23-year-old man who died after being hit by a car in the Peak District in Staffordshire over the bank holiday weekend has been named.

Police were called by the North West Ambulance Service at 3.55pm on Sunday(1 May who reported a serious collision involving a car and a pedestrian on the A523 at Rushton Spencer.

Alec Heyworth, 23, of Smallwood in Cheshire, was taken to the Royal Stoke Hospital with life-threatening head injuries. Sadly, he died the following day.

Staffordshire Police say Alec's family continue to be supported by specially-trained officers and have asked for privacy at this time.
