Crewe and Stoke to play pre-season charity match for Ashton Hulme
The 12-year-old was diagnosed with a rare form of bone cancer in December.
It's been announced Crewe Alexandra will be playing Stoke City's first team in a pre-season charity match in aid of young academy goalkeeper Ashton Hulme.
The 12-year-old Stoke City supporter was diagnosed with a rare form of bone cancer in December.
He had the lower part of his leg amputated in March, as well as undergoing a number of aggressive rounds of chemotherapy.
The fixture will take place on Tuesday 20 July, 7pm, at The Alexandra Stadium, with both clubs donating proceeds towards Ashton's recovery.
Crewe Alexandra Chairman Charles Grant said: "Ashton’s story has inspired us all, not just in the local area but the footballing family around the country. We are obviously delighted that our neighbours are joining us at Gresty Road in the Charity Match which will raise valuable funds for Ashton’s recovery."
Tickets for the Charity Match will be available to purchase from Monday 5 July when details will be released in accordance with the government’s guidelines.
