New Stoke-on-Trent artwork honouring industrial heritage
It features at Hope Street in Hanley
A new piece of City Centre artwork has recently been completed, with the aim to honour the rich heritage of the Potteries.
Commissioned by Stoke-on-Trent City Centre BID, the artwork has been created over a number of weeks by renowned freelance graphic artist and muralist Rob Fenton and local tattoo artist Alastair Barnett.
The mural itself, based on Hope Street, depicts a worker of the formidable Shelton Bar Steelworks in Etruria. In its heyday, Shelton Bar Steelworks employed 10,000 people, had five coal mines and a complete railway station.
Rob Fenton, local artist and co-creator of the new mural was thrilled to take part in the project:
"One thing I LOVE about what I do is sharing the platform with so many other incredible artists. I had the pleasure of working with Alastair Barnett of Creepin' Reaper Tattoo on this mural. As it has rained constantly throughout the past month, Alastair has been preparing it at my studio and has done an amazing job."
