A man has been stabbed in broad daylight in Newcastle town centre.

A confrontation is understood to have happened between a man and a woman at 2:30pm this afternoon (Tuesday 13th July) on Church Street.

The victim's injuries are not thought to be serious. He was treated by paramedics and discharged at the scene.

A spokesperson from West Midlands Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 2.30pm today reports of a stabbing on Church Street, Newcastle Under Lyme. We sent one ambulance and a paramedic officer to the scene.

"On arrival, they discovered one patient, a man, who had injuries not considered to be serious. He was assessed on scene and discharged."
