Man in hospital and two people arrested after Newcastle stabbing

Police have arrested a man and woman after an incident where a man was stabbed in Newcastle last night (April 25).

They attended Orme Road at around 9.30pm following reports a man had suffered wounds. A man aged 23, from Derbyshire, and a woman, aged 26, from Newcastle have been arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent.

Both remain in custody. The man is receiving treatment in hospital. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

A statement from West Midlands Ambulance Service says: "We were called to reports of a man found in the street who had been stabbed. An ambulance, a paramedic officer and a BASICS emergency doctor were sent to the scene in Orme Road in Newcastle at around 9.30pm on Sunday evening.

"A man was treated for serious injuries at the scene before being taken on blue lights to Royal Stoke University Hospital."
