A 39-year-old man’s been found guilty of a number of historical sexual offences against children in Staffordshire.

Gareth Robinson from Gillow Heath was found guilty of one count of sexually assaulting a girl under the age of 13 and a further five counts of sexual activity with girls aged between 13 and 15. The offences occurred between August 2004 and June 2005.

The trial at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court concluded today (Thursday 29 July) with Robinson due to be sentenced on Friday 27 August.

Detective Constable Naomi Kinnersley of Staffordshire Police said: “Robinson was in his early twenties at the time of the assaults and used his age to take advantage of his victims. He would often bribe them, flatter them and would made them feel it was ok to be involved in this kind of relationship with him.

“His victims were young girls at the time and they’ve had to live with the consequences of his actions. I commend them for their courage in coming forward.”

Anyone who has suffered sexual abuse, or suspects others may be subject to sexual abuse, is urged to contact Staffordshire Police on 101.
