Man dies after being hit by car in Stoke-on-Trent

A man has died after being hit by a vehicle in Stoke-on-Trent at the weekend.

Emergency crews were called to Weston Road, near to Weston Coyney lights, at 11.45pm on Saturday.

The man in his 30s was rushed to hospital by West Midlands Ambulance Service, but later died.

In a statement, Staffordshire Police said: "Collision investigators are appealing for information after a man sadly died following a collision in Stoke-on-Trent over the weekend.

"It happened on Weston Road at about 11.45pm on Saturday (16 December) near to Weston Coyney lights in the direction of Cellarhead. A grey Honda Civic and a pedestrian were involved.

"Sadly, the pedestrian, a man in his 30s, was pronounced dead a short time later. His family are being supported by specialist officers at this difficult time."

Police say the driver of the vehicle stopped at the scene to help officers with their enquiries.
