Man dies after being hit by a bus in Stafford

A man has died after being hit by a bus in Stafford.

Emergency services were called to the town centre at around 11.35pm yesterday, and provided medical care.

Despite the best efforts of ambulance crews, he died at the scene. His family has now been told.

In an update, Staffordshire Police said: "We were called just after 11.35am this morning (Wednesday 6 December) to reports of a serious collision involving a pedestrian and a bus on Bridge Street."

"Officers went to the scene with firefighters from Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service and paramedics from West Midlands Ambulance Service.

"Sadly, the pedestrian, a man in his 80s, died at the scene. His family have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers."

An investigation is now underway, and police want anyone who saw anything, or who has dashcam footage to contact them.
