Man dies after being hit by train in Stoke-on-Trent

West Midlands Ambulance Service say nothing could be done to save him

A man has died after being hit by a train at Longport Railway Station in Stoke-on-Trent.

Emergency services were called at around 9am this morning to the site on Station Street.

West Midlands Ambulance Service paramedics were unable to save the man, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We were called at 9.01am to reports of an incident at Station Street, Longport, Stoke on Trent. One ambulance and a paramedic officer attended the scene. On arrival, we discovered one patient, a male. Unfortunately, it immediately became clear that nothing more could be done to save him and he was confirmed deceased at the scene."
