Man's body found in lake at Silverdale Country Park

The man was aged in his 50's and discovered by search teams

Search teams from Staffordshire Police and Fire and Rescue Service have found the body of a man in a lake at Silverdale Country Park in Newcastle.

The man, who was aged in his fifties and from the local area, is believed to have got into difficulties in the water at around 2pm today.

Underwater specialists including divers were at the scene and located a body at approximately 9pm this evening.

Although formal identification is yet to take place, his family has been informed.

Crews from Newcastle, Hanley and Sandyford have been in attendance for most of the afternoon and evening alongside West Midlands Ambulance Service.

Police have added that a report will now be prepared for HM Coroner.
