M6 delays after crash in South Staffordshire closes motorway
There are long delays on the M6 today after an accident closed the southbound carriageway.
It has been closed from junction 12 for Cannock since around 3am this morning.
Police say an accident took place between two lorries and a car, which resulted in a response from trauma medical teams.
A woman and a teenage girl were rescued from the car, and rushed to hospital. Their injuries are being described as serious.
In an update, West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "Upon arrival we found a woman and a teenage girl who were the driver of and a passenger in the car.
“The woman was assessed by ambulance staff and had sustained potentially life-threatening injuries.
“She received advanced trauma care from ambulance staff at the scene and was conveyed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital for further treatment under emergency blue light conditions."

Long delays have been forming on the M6 southbound, with traffic stretching as far back as Stafford.
Collision investigation work is ongoing. Motorists are being advised of long delays across the entire area.
Staffordshire Police said, in a statement: "We were called to the M6 junction 12 southbound just after 2.15am this morning (Wednesday 1 November) following reports of a collision involving two lorries and a car.
"We went to the collision with Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service and West Midlands Ambulance Service.
"Two women, trapped in a white Toyota, were helped out of the car by fire crews.
"Both women were taken to hospital for treatment."
